It is being increasingly recognised that a wide range of emotional problems
are a response to very difficult social circumstances, life experiences and
dilemmas. The conference will consider how such trauma and adversity
should be a key way in which we understand distress, such as low mood,
fear, relationship problems, voices and paranoia. It will reflect on how
people can be helped and the need for services as a whole to be trauma
informed, including the challenges and ethics of doing so.

Topics include:

  • Developing trauma informed services
  • Trauma and attachment
  • Listening to the voices of people with lived experience
  • Trauma and psychological formulation
  • Helping people who have been traumatised
  • Trauma and psychosis
